Who Can Stand Before His Cold?
He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.
He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?
Psalms 147:16-17
Our Monday Mini-Hike
It poured down rain on Sunday and our creek got up –so we just had to go see our waterfall.
Along the way we saw…
moss on a rock…
a wildflower ( cranesbill ?) emerging from the leaves…
and mushrooms on a log.
Our mini-waterfall
He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
Psalms 78:16

Snow, Snow And More Snow For The Smoky Mountains
More snow is headed for the Smokies!
From the National Weather Service:
...HEAVY SNOW POSSIBLE FROM THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY... AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER EAST TEXAS THURSDAY WILL MOVE EAST ACROSS THE DEEP SOUTH THROUGH SATURDAY. LIGHT RAIN AND SNOW WILL BEGIN TO MOVE INTO THE AREA THURSDAY NIGHT. THE RAIN IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE TO SNOW ON THURSDAY NIGHT AS COLDER AIR FILTERS IN. LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ON THURSDAY NIGHT SHOULD BE ACROSS THE NORTHERN CUMBERLAND PLATEAU AND EXTREME SOUTHWEST VIRGINA. PRECIPITATION WILL BECOME WIDESPREAD ACROSS THE AREA ON FRIDAY. THE PRECIPITATION WILL LIKELY CHANGE PHASES AS WARM AIR MOVES UP THE EAST TENNESSEE VALLEY ON FRIDAY MORNING. SNOW WILL LIKELY CHANGE TO RAIN THEN BACK TO SNOW ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST TENNESSEE AND SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA. THE LOW TRACKS TO THE SOUTHEAST OF THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS REGION ON SATURDAY. HEAVY SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE AREA ON BOTH FRIDAY AND SATURDAY...ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE NORTHERN CUMBERLAND PLATEAU...SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA AND THE NORTHEAST TENNESSEE MOUNTAINS. THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THE TRACK OF THE LOW PRESSURE CENTER...THEREFORE IT IS DIFFICULT TO PROVIDE A TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS AT THIS TIME. HOWEVER...IT APPEARS THAT A SIGNIFICANT SNOW COULD OCCUR OVER A LARGE PART OF THE AREA. THE LIKELIHOOD OF SNOW AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF FOUR INCHES IS INCREASING FOR RESIDENTS OF NORTHEAST TENNESSEE AND SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA.

Cold Car Battery? Use Aspirin
Our Jeep didn’t want to start yesterday morning –too cold (it’s a wonder it didn’t happen earlier in the month).
Lacy came back in the house and asked me if I had any aspirin -“I’ve got a sick battery”.
Aspirin???
He took 3 aspirin, cut them in half and put one half in each cell of the battery.
30 minutes later the Jeep started right up! Apparently, the aspirin reacts with the battery acid and warms it up.
What about that!
Does it work every time?
“I ain’t sayin’ it will and I ain’t sayin’ it won’t -but it’s worked every time for me.”
So the next time your car won’t start because the battery is cold, try some aspirin.
Blessings,
Denese
The Big Thaw
We get our water from a spring and both our 500 gallon and 1000 gallon tanks have been frozen since the night of January 3rd.
Praise God, they’ve thawed out!
No more toting and heating!
Hope the weather is warming where you are.
Blessings,
Denese
