Smoky Mountains And Townsend Area Flooding And Severe Weather Update
The flood watch has been lifted for the Smoky Mountains and surrounding areas in Tennessee but we are still under a hazardous weather outlook. Showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for the weekend and into next week.
Earlier today we had flooded roads all over the area, there was a power outage near Townsend and a landslide on Wears Valley Road.
A man was removed from an overturned car in Sevier County during a swift water rescue operation and authorities will resume their search in the morning for a woman who went in the river near Metcalf Bottoms picnic area in the Park.
Little River Road is closed between Townsend and Metcalf Bottoms picnic area.

Flood Warning Issued For The Smoky Mountains
A flood warning has been issued for Blount, Monroe and Sevier counties in Eastern Tennessee, including the Smoky Mountains.
And it is flooding!
2200 ft. elevation, 100 feet from Foothills Parkway at the Blount/Sevier county line…
It is also flooding in parts of Townsend and the power is out in the Rudd Holler area.
Our 3 foot creek bed is now a 10 foot wide river!

Flood Advisory And Watch For The Great Smoky Mountains
A flood advisory is in effect this morning for The Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee until 10:15am due to extremely heavy rain that has moved into the area. Some areas are receiving 1-2 inches per hour which will cause flooding of small streams and low lying areas.

Smoky Mountains Severe Weather Alert
There is a hazardous weather outlook for parts of Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia, including the Smoky Mountains.
We have had hard rain showers over the past two days and it’s supposed to rain today through the weekend with very heavy rain possible tonight and tomorrow. Flooding is also possible.

Severe Weather In The Smoky Mountains
We had some severe thunderstorms move through the area this morning and more are in the forecast for this afternoon through the weekend.

The creeks and streams are up and the ground is saturated, so there is the possibility of flooding and trees falling more easily.

Smoky Mountains Weather
We’ve had rain for three days and after drying out a little last night, heavy rain has moved back into the area.
The creeks and streams are up and all of East Tennessee, parts of North Carolina and Virginia are under a flood watch until this evening.
One to two inches of rain is expected through tonight and there is a chance of rain in the forecast everyday through the rest of the week.

Smoky Mountains Fires Update
The Laurel Falls fire is almost out but there are still trail closures.
Park fire at Laurel Falls quiets down
The Blueridge Parkway is still closed from Highway 441 to Highway 19 (Soco Gap), due to the Stony Ridge fire at Cherokee. The closure includes Heintooga Ridge Road and is expected to be lifted on May 2.
It’s rained (poured!) all morning in the Smokies, so that should help.

Smoky Mountains Fires Update: Portion of Blue Ridge Parkway Closed
The Blue Ridge Parkway is closed from U.S. 441 northward to Soco Gap due to the Stony Ridge fire near Cherokee.
The Laurel Falls fire that has burned nearly 270 acres since early this week appears to be abating.

Smoky Mountains Fires Update And Weekend Weather
According to Tennessee Radio Network News, the Cobbly Nob fire is out.
Firefighters are still battling the Laurel Falls fire as of yesterday, no new updates today.
