Paul Revere's Ride

Today’s resources from Homeschool Freebie of the Day are about the famous ride of Paul Revere -which happened 235 years ago this Sunday, April 18th:

Listen My Children -A great half hour audio story about Revere’s life and influence, including the events of that fateful night, as originally dramatized on the radio program “Cavalcade of America”, in December, 1952. Also included is a PDF “Listening & Discussion Guide” that accompanies the audio program plus an audio reading of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s classic poem, “Paul Revere’s Ride” as performed  by the great actor, Frederic March.

(These free resources are hosted at Homeschool Radio Shows, so they should be available through next Monday.)

Homeschool Radio Shows has a wonderful dog story to listen to:

"The Biscuit Eater" is about "good for nothing biscuit-eating little beagle" who wasn’t expected to amount to much… but the faith of two young boys bring out the best in him. It is a great "boy and his dog" story by Mississippi author James Street, which was made into a movie twice.

 

You can learn about Marsupials with a free theme unit from SchoolExpress:

SchoolExpress Newsletter for the week of April 4th, 2010 –This week we have a free unit titled "Marsupials". It will be available through April 10.

Also, new worksheets will be added to the Phonics category for the next several weeks. Eight short vowel letter a worksheets were added to the free worksheet area last week.
