Travel Alert: Rock Slides In The Great Smoky Mountains Close Part Of Little River Road

Two rock slides Friday have closed Little River Road in the Smokies, between Elkmont and Metcalf Bottoms, through Monday, August 17. Detour is 321/Wears Valley Road through Wears Valley (between Townsend and Pigeon Forge).

Second rock slide closes Smokies road until Monday

Expect longer driving times on Wears Valley Road -traffic was a lot heavier than usual on Friday and it’s always worse over the weekend anyways.

You can expect even longer delays between 12:00pm and 1:00pm on Sunday  -there are quite a few churches on Wears Valley Road and traffic sometimes comes to a standstill when church services end.
