Old-Time Radio

Homeschool Radio Shows free Living Books for the Ears program for this week is an audio of the classic children’s book “Toby Tyler (or Ten Weeks with the Circus)” by James Otis. This classic old-time radio program was originally broadcast in 1944 and makes for some great listening. Available all week.

Lent Resources

The Underground Railroad

Today’s free resource from Homeschool Freebie of the Day is a huge collection of eyewitness accounts and stories of the Underground Railroad.
“The Underground Railroad: A RECORD OF FACTS, AUTHENTIC NARRATIVE, LETTERS, &C., Narrating the Hardships, Hair-breadth Escapes and Death Struggles of the Slaves in their efforts of Freedom, as Related by Themselves and, Others, or Witnessed by the Author” was written by William Still, a son of escaped slaves, and contains amazing “living history” told by the people who were there.

It just barely got above freezing yesterday so the snow didn’t melt much, as you can see. It’s 16 degrees and breezy here in the holler and wind chills in the Great Smokies are -10  to 0 degrees this morning.
